Pathways into the lab
Academic & co-investigator network
AIRL connects faculty and researchers across Canada and internationally to develop collaborative research programs and pursue Canadian and international funding opportunities as Principal Investigators (PI) and Co-Principal Investigators (Co-PI).
Undergraduate researchers
UREAP awards ($7,000), Research Accelerate and Sustainability grants, and capstone/senior-design projects, with a strong record of co-authored publications in Q1/Q2 journals.
Graduate students & visiting researchers
The Director holds Full Graduate Instructor/Supervisor status at TRU as well as several international universities, and supervises Master's and PhD research in medical AI, security, assistive technology, and applied ML, while supporting collaborative research visits through our international network.
Mitacs interns
Globalink Research Internships (GRI) and Global Research Assistant (GRA) bring international students to Kamloops each summer for 24-week or 12-week projects in AI, LLMs, data science, IoT, and computer vision.

We welcome dialogue with Indigenous communities and public-sector organizations on language technology, wildfire resilience, and health AI.
