Saudi Arabia’s national news agency reported that Dr. Ghazanfar Latif won the gold medal in artificial intelligence at the 2024 International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, one of two medals earned by Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University (PMU) at the exhibition.
The agency credits the medal to his advanced Braille-language innovation, designed to make communication and learning easier for blind and visually impaired people. The same report notes PMU’s place among the top 100 universities worldwide for US patents granted in 2023 — a record to which the writer-verification and assistive-technology patents now associated with AIRL contributed.
